Silver Jewellery Making Course: Payal, Chain and Kamar Belt
RPJ Making teaches one craft: handmade silver jewellery. Our silver jewellery making courses take you from your first piece of silver wire to finished payal, chains and kamar belts. They use the same traditional techniques practised in Jaipur workshops.
Every lesson is a practical video in simple Hindi. You see each step at the workbench, including the tools, the heat, the solder and the finishing.
Silver basics: the foundation
Strong fundamentals come first. Our basic courses cover melting silver and preparing alloy, making tanka (solder) and soldering, and the basics of galai. They also cover drawing wire with a hand machine and rounding it with the janti, and filing, sanding and polishing for a professional shine. The All Basic course brings every core basic together in one course for total beginners.
Silver chain making
Our chain making course covers the complete process: heating the wire, making springs, cutting the kadi (links), joining the chain, soldering and balancing.
Silver payal (anklet) making
- Curb chain payal (karb chain) of 50 grams with cutting pieces
- Double-chain payal of 100 grams with pankhi, ghungru and matar designs
- Collar payal
